About the artist
Hello! My name is Hope and I am a ceramic artist who makes art with drawings/paintings/ and photos on ceramic forms about change and defining what home really is. Whether home is something built with the people around you, a specific place, or one’s own self. As a kid, home was the biggest feeling I was trying to understand. Now I can finally dive into my emotions and experiences with my work. I typically use thrown ceramic forms as my canvas and a hand-built element (the chains) to the exterior as an added extension of what I am saying in each piece. I use 3 different clay body including white stoneware, reclaim clay, and porcelain with underglaze and glaze. I believe that I can break barriers of what it means to be an artist by making art that relates to experiences people have also gone through as well as myself.
